Overflow of Faith
John 6:1-14, 6 After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. 2 And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick. 3 Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples. 4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. 5 Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” 6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.” 8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, 9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” (Now here me…Jesus said, the ones who are willing to eat are the ones willing to take a posture of sitting…sitting is a receiving posture but also an authority posture…if you don’t learn to sit and obey you won’t eat) Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten.
(John vs. “KJV”13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. ) ESV
Ps 23, 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. NKJV

- One of his attributes is Goodness…so His goodness is measureless….

- Rich, not like you and I may be rich…
- Rich here in the Greek means…Abounding; wealthy; without the ability to count, tabulate or calculate….
- My God His Mercy should be Running over in our Cups…
- May have been going through Hell but while Going my Cup Runneth Over…!
- You may be running low on Cash…But I’ve got a Cup….
- but my Cup Runneth Over….

MY CUP RUNNETH OVER
- Abundant
- Paul said: 1 Tim 1:14-15 “the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” (ESV)
- Three of our SEW speakers in January quoted this verse and one of them preached on this verse… Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or think…according to the power that works in us.”
- Running Over…
- The Good outweighs the Bad….You’ve Got more blessings than you got burdens…!
MY CUP RUNNETH OVER
- David said: “Don’t forget any of his benefits…” if all I had was a couple of God benefits…I know if I forgot them…but if I have so many benefits I can’t count…It is possible for me to actually forget all the goodness of God in my life….
- There is no end to the goodness of God, the mercy of God…the resources of God…
- No man has exhausted how Good God is…
- Are you Ready…HE IS ON YOUR SIDE!!!
- If hadn’t been for the Lord, WHO WAS ON MY SIDE…
- If it wasn’t for the Lord…
- Who forgave me…
- Who forgives me…when I still do dumb stuff
- Feelings flees….But the Cup Stays….
- We are God’s people
- We are His ambassadors…
- Our cup will fill run over….
- I’m reminded of Sampson…he killed the lion…but he went back and visited that dead lion…that past victory….that testimony…and it was now Running over with Honey….
The Runover is in Your Past Victories
Does anybody in this place have a testimony
- Getting All Wet
- If your cup Runneth over…You’ll get wet…
- Your hands will get wet

- Jer 2:13, 13 for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water. ESV
- God says, “as his people we have done two evils…”
- Forsaken the fountain of living water…
- We gotten use to water bottles…when there are fountains…
- We made cisterns…” these are made to catch water when it rains…” so you are subject to ‘Seasons’ of rain….
- But God is saying…get rid of your cisterns…because HE IS A WELL….
- This is why he met the Samaritan woman at a well…she had showed up in all her shame, guilt and embarrassment to draw a little water out with her cistern…and Jesus, said, “ask of me and I’ll give you the whole Well….
- Forsaken the fountain of living water…
My Cup Runneth Over
Why don’t we live with an overflowing, Runneth over Cup?
- What You See
Heb 11:1-2, 11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. NKJV
- Faith and Fear come to you by
- What you see
- What you hear
- What you think
- The greatest enemy of your faith that would cause your cup to Runneth over is not:
- Doubt
- Fear
- Unbelief…
- The Greatest enemy of your faith is what you are seeing….
- A Picture is worth…what???
- A 1,000 words…
- Faith cometh hearing and hearing by the word of God….
- Wha you are hearing is painting a picture…..
- Change what you see and what you hear…and I promise you your cup will Runneth Over….
- Abraham
- In the 12th Chapter of Genesis, God told Abram, “I’m going to bless you with territory, and your descendants will have the territory and be a blessing to all nations.”
- In the 15th Chapter, Abram is discouraged…because all he is seeing is trouble, conflict and just fought a war with 5 kings…and God takes Abram outside and says…”look up to the heavens and count the stars…” if you can count it, I’ll produce it through you and for you…”
- God gave him lights to look at in the dark hours…during the night seasons…
- It’s dark out…promises don’t seem to be coming to pass…I’ve got my cup, but it’s dark…
- Look up man and woman of God and start counting your blessing…
- In Chapter 22 of Genesis
- God gives Abraham another picture…sand of the seashore….
- In the night season….when the enemy was trying to steal his faith…LOOK UP
- In the desert times….when the enemy was trying to convince him to give up on his promise…LOOK DOWN AND COUNT….
- Count…Count….Count…..
- KEEP THE PICTURE OF YOUR FUTURE IN MIND, EVERY DAY AND EVERY NIGHT….
- God Gave Abraham a Faith Image and Picture…because enemy or encourager of your faith is what you are looking at….
Let me Illustrate it for you….
- 2 Tables….filled with fruit and vegetables…
- We look at what we don’t have instead of all we have….
- Tithing…verses all the benefits….
- Closing – Surely
- Surely – assurance, confidence, true, with certainty…
- Surely – I have a cup
- Surely – I’m coming out of this
- Surely – he’ll my body
- Surely – the vision will come to pass and it will no longer tarry.
- His Promises are Sure, His word is sure, His prophecies are sure….
- Surely His Goodness and Mercy are Going to Follow Me all the Days of My Life…
SURELY MY CUP RUNNETH OVER
