Opening the Heavens

Job 22:28 28 You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways. NKJV

Isa 62:10-12 10 Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples! 11 Indeed the Lord has proclaimed To the end of the world: “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Surely your salvation is coming; Behold, His reward is with Him, And His work before Him.'” 12 And they shall call them The Holy People, The Redeemed of the Lord; And you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken. NKJV

Let me reread verse 10… 10 Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples!

Introduction:

  • In Genesis 1:1 – it says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth…”…
    • In the Law of Hermeneutics…which is both a science and art…we have a law called the “Law of First Mention or First Spoken” So when it is first spoken it sets presidents on how it is to be interpreted throughout the scriptures…
    • So according to the Law of First Mentioned it is God’s intent for Humanity to live under an open heaven…
  • In Genesis 1:14 God places into this open heaven…lights, sun, moon, stars…etc.
  • In Genesis 1:20-21 God places birds in the air and fish into the depths of the sea…in symbolism God is saying you can go as high as you would like in my Kingdom or as Deep as you would like to go….
  • Genesis 1:26 –
    • Created in His Image – spirit
    • In His likeness – character
    • 2:7 – created the man an earth suit, cause you cannot have dominion in the earth if you are not part of the earth…that is why the devil is a trespasser and Jesus had legitimacy…because He was born of a woman and took on the “form of a servant,” the form of a man.
      • God breathed into Adam the Breath of Life, which is a type of discernment…. And Adam became a living soul!
    • Adam lived in a place called Eden….was told to be fruitful and multiply…
      • Eden was seen as Heaven on Earth….Heaven is a place in time and a time is place….
      • Eden was both a Place, but was also thought to be everywhere Adam went….

Transition:  When Adam sinned…the heavens shut over Adam…now it didn’t affect God, the stars, sun and moon…they are still in the heavens…didn’t affect the birds and the fish…they can still fly as high as they want and swim as deep as they like…but it affected Adam!

Deut 28:23-24 23 And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. 24 The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed. KJV

  • Heavens are as Brass and the Earth is as Iron
    • Brass is a system…to make Brass you must mix copper, aluminum and other metals put in a foundry and formulated into a system that comes out brass…an alloy. It is a system…
    • The enemies desire is to create a system over your head to shut the heavens over your life, over your family and over your relationships…
      • That’s why Paul would say, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but principalities, rulers…etc.”
      • Just a quick note: the devil will rarely use the people you think he’ll use…he will use good people…consider Jesus and Peter, “Jesus tells Peter, Get thee behind me Satan…”  Peter is a good man trying to serve the Lord…committed to the Lord, yet the enemy used him…” the devil will use good people…he will use you if you let him!
    • Earth as Iron
      • Won’t allow plowing or reaping….
      • Seeds can’t be planted…neither do seeds that were sown able to spring forth…
    • God’s original intent is for an open heaven and a productive earth…
      • Brass heavens – verse 24 says, “no rain”
      • Iron earth – “won’t receive the rain or seed…can’t be tilled.

Transition:  The enemy would like to put a system into operation in your life…that keeps the rain of God’s presence and anointing from impacting your life, family, ministry, service, every area of your life…to try and keep the ground of your heart and life fallow, so you can’t receive the seed of God’s word…you and I become cold to the things of the Lord….

Introduction:  Isn’t it amazing how one person can be experiencing an open heaven over their life and the person right next to them isn’t experiencing anything…heaven can open over a person, over a church (Toronto, Brownsville, Azusa), over a city, even over a Nation…right now it seems as if Heaven is open over Nigeria, South Korea, many other places in the world where revival is breaking out…I believe it is the will of God in these last days to open heaven over the earth and the Glory of the Lord cover the earth as the water covers the seas.

In Isaiah 62:10…the key word the Lord spoke to me…was the word Prepare…

  • Prepare – “to turn towards, turn back, turn around, to go back…to leave where you currently are, make clear.”
  • Doctrine of Open Things – I’m just going to cover a couple examples for particular reasons…
  • Open Good Treasure
    • Deut 28:12 12 The Lord will open to you his good treasury ESV
  • God Treasures
  • Love
  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Health
  • Prosperity
  • Holiness
  • Justice
  • Favor of the Lord
  • Gifts of the Spirit
  • Discernment
  • Miracles, Healing, deliverance, etc
  • His good treasure is Rain…in Joel it says, “in the last days I will send the later and the former rain in the same month…”
  • Open Womb
    • Genesis 29:31 – God opened the womb of Leah
    • Genesis 30:22 – and God remembered Rachel and opened her womb…
      • God is opening the Womb of Dreams and ministries….
      • Babies where you didn’t think you could have a baby…
    • Genesis 41:56 – opened all the storehouses….
      • Things you thought were lost have been stored up for this season and time….
      • Things you thought the famine would take and steel, the Lord has been storing up…
      • That’s why it is imperative to store treasures in heaven where moth and rust don’t get to them and deteriorate and eat away.
    • 17:5 says “God will open your field…Lev.14:7 says you shall loose a bird in an open field”
      • God is going to open your fields…
      • The devil tried to close your fields, but the devil is a lie…
      • Your field on your job….
      • Educational field
      • Professional field
      • The Field of Your Calling and Anointing…
    • eyes will be opened…” 21:19 says of Hagar…”then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water…” Eph 1:18-19 “the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,” (NKJV)
  • When God opens your eyes…don’t take a bottle when you have access to a well…. take a bucket
  • God is going to open your eyes to how you are in Christ
  • Open your eyes to recognize the strategy of your enemy
  • Open your eyes to a way of escape
  • Open your eyes to revelation, wisdom and understanding…Brother John Kilpatricks’ Word…
  • Open your vision to see your future…that in your future you look much better than you do right now
  • 8:6 “Noah opened a window”
    • Noah had been free floating for nearly a year…
      • Have you ever felt as if you have been free floating…all you need is a window to open for you…and your floating will cease as you come to rest on the mountain God has for you
    • An open window is an Opportunity….
    • In Acts a boy was sitting in a window and fell asleep and consequently fell out of the window and died…
      • Don’t be asleep when opportunity knocks…
      • Don’t expect the opportunity to look huge…
      • For Noah it was one olive branch…wasn’t a whole tree…a whole plan…just a branch!

STOP DOING THE MATH AND JUST DO YOUR PART!

  • Whatever you do…don’t criticize the Window…
    • Women want their husbands to show them more attention and the joker brings home carnations, but you love tulips…don’t criticize your window of opportunity…next time he’ll bring tulips!!!!
  • Acts 16:25 – Paul and Silas in prison…”All the Doors were Opened…”

In Mark 2 we see the man paralyzed and can’t get to Jesus…until four friends tear the roof off the house so that he can be lowered in at the feet of Jesus…

  • Type and Shadow
    • The house speaks of the House of Israel…but the heavens are shut over them…
    • The paralyzed is you and me…but we can’t get in
    • The four men are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John…the four gospels who teach us how to access open heavens over our lives….

Tabernacle – Whenever the High Priest would go into the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement…Yom Kippur…he would sprinkle blood on the mercy seat and the heavens would open and the Shekinah glory of God would fill the temple, hit the breastplate of the priest and all of Israel would see the heavens were open…but it was only open over the Nation of Israel…

  • Their sins would be rolled back a year
  • They had manna every day to eat
  • Supply of Water
  • Clothes didn’t wear out
  • But we have a problem…heaven was just opened over one nation and one people…

Oh but I bring you good news…we have another High Priest…who has entered the Holy of Holies once and for all…and has sprinkled his blood on the mercy seat…and now we have access to an open heaven…all the time and for all those who call upon the name of the Lord.
