No Fear Series: I’ve Got a Stick

Introduction:  I love watching people walk in our neighborhood especially as better weather is approaching.  Many that I watch carry a stick with them…

  • Some carry it for balance
  • Some carry in case a dog or animal runs at them
  • I’m sure some are carrying that stick in case another person who desires to do mischief comes at them…
  • Whatever the reason…the stick isn’t the focus the person is, their exercise journey is, their destination is the focus…
  • What I don’t know is Their Goal for walking…
  • Their WHY, that has put them on this journey of walking and carrying a Stick…HAS MOTIVATED THEM FOR CHANGE…

Title:  Today, I’m going to talk to you for a few Moments on the Subject:  “No Fear, All In I’ve God a Stick”

Pray

Num 17:1-11

17 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and get from them a rod from each father’s house, all their leaders according to their fathers’ houses — twelve rods. Write each man’s name on his rod. 3 And you shall write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi. For there shall be one rod for the head of each father’s house. 4 Then you shall place them in the tabernacle of meeting before the Testimony, where I meet with you. 5 And it shall be that the rod of the man whom I choose will blossom; thus I will rid Myself of the complaints of the children of Israel, which they make against you.”

6 So Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and each of their leaders gave him a rod apiece, for each leader according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods; and the rod of Aaron was among their rods. 7 And Moses placed the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness.

8 Now it came to pass on the next day that Moses went into the tabernacle of witness, and behold, the rod of Aaron, of the house of Levi, had sprouted and put forth buds, had produced blossoms and yielded ripe almonds. 9 Then Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord to all the children of Israel; and they looked, and each man took his rod.

10 And the Lord said to Moses, “Bring Aaron’s rod back before the Testimony, to be kept as a sign against the rebels, that you may put their complaints away from Me, lest they die.” 11 Thus did Moses; just as the Lord had commanded him, so he did.

Matt 7:7-8

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

  1. Aaron’s Rod
    1. Now in the book of Hebrews Aaron’s rod speaks of the Cross…but I want to share a deeper revelation to you this morning…that the Rod speaks to us of Something else as well…
      1. I’d submit to you it is practical in nature…
      2. An actionable invitation for you and me…
      3. This exercise is to settle a Dispute…people want to follow whoever they choose…
      4. Matter of fact in the 16th chapter of Numbers they followed the Worship Leader…and thought we don’t have to listen to Moses or Aaron…and God killed 1000’s.
    2. But let’s take a deeper look at the Rod
    3. First of all, everyone was invited to bring their Rod to the tabernacle…
      1. they had to write Leadership’s name on that Rod…
      2. and Moses placed the rods…all 12 of them before the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies…
      3. God said in Numbers 17:5 “the rod that blossoms will be the person whom I will choose”
      4. But God decides to show off His Goodness…the rod does more than blossom…
        1. It puts forth leaves
        2. It puts forth a bloom
        3. And by morning it has fruit…it has ripe Almonds on the thing…
        4. Ain’t God good…He brings his goodness out of dead things…

SOMEBODY SHOULD GIVE GOD A PRAISE RIGHT THERE…

Transition:  Let me look at this Fruitful Stick for a moment…

    1. Aaron’s Rod had a 3 Level Manifestation
      1. Produced Leaves – Aaron had an ability to cover Israel, Leaves means covering
      2. Produced Flowers – means fragrance….fragrance means perfume or atmosphere…
        1. one who has the ability to change the atmosphere.
        2. Aaron had the ability to change the atmosphere…over the people, over the nation…
      3. Produced Fruit – fruit is generational blessing because fruit carries seed that has legacy within it….

Transition:  Let me take this to a very Practical place if I might…

Matt 7:7-8

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

  1. Here’s My Stick
    1. Ask, Seek, Knock
      1. Ask – means to call for, desire, require…to demand
      2. Seek – means to be (go) about, desire, endeavor, enquire (for), require, and demand
      3. Knock – to rap, knock, to be relentless…to demand….
    2. Now there is this imperative placed on the Text…in other words…there is a force of demand upon the text…that is IN THE NOW!!!
    3. Now let me show you what the Word Picture of this text is:
      1. The picture is to get a Stick… and While you are demanding…you are using your stick to Knock on the thing you are wanting to Open…

  1. Triplicate
    1. Jesus introduces a triplicate with an answer:
      1. Ask – you shall receive
      2. Seek – you shall find
      3. Knock – it’ll be opened to you
    2. Let me put this all together…
      1. Bring Your Stick…You are the Stick…Your Life…Your Influence…that’s why it has to have your name on it….and with your life, your stick…
      2. Ask – Cover – Receive
      3. Seek – Bloom, Fragrance, Worship – You’ll Find
      4. Knock – Produce – Open up a new level of Fruitfulness in your life
  2. Closing
    1. Today is the day for your life to Change
    2. Give your life to Christ…Aaron had to bring what represented his life and family to the Mercy Seat…none of this other works if Jesus doesn’t have your life…
    3. Follow the Lord in Water Baptism
      1. Give Instruction
    4. Bring Your Kingdom Builders Card
