Multiplied Engagement 2025: Part 2

Jude 2, 2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. ESV

We are in a year of Multiplication and my desire is that you Multiply in Mercy, Peace, Love as well as every other aspect of your life and family.  

Multiplication has been a theme all through scripture…

God put multiplication in the DNA of Creation itself

In the birds, fish, animals, plants, even the atmosphere…

God hard wired it in humanity in the book of Genesis when He said, “Let them be fruitful and multiply…”  

God told Abraham that He was going to Multiply his offspring.

Gen 22:17, 17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. ESV

God told Isaac that He would Multiply Him

Jacob would be Multiplied

God told Hagar he would Multiply the descendants of Ishmael

God is in the Multiplying Business…always has been, always will be…

As a reminder from last week I said, we have to be intentional if we are going to walk in Multiplication…

Intentionality begins by Looking Up and by Stirring Up Your Gifts….

I want to build on that with today’s word….Multiply

Num 11:11-18, So Moses said to the Lord, “Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a guardian carries a nursing child,’ to the land which You swore to their fathers? 13 Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’ 14 I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me. 15 If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now — if I have found favor in Your sight — and do not let me see my wretchedness!” 16 So the Lord said to Moses: “Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone. 18 Then you shall say to the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. NKJV

I. 100% Engagement
  • When I speak of Multiplication, I’m talking about 100% Engagement…
  • We believe God is calling us to trust that He can Multiply our Influence…
  • We do that by discipling others…
  • When the church reaches out and leads people to Christ, that’s addition. But when we train and disciple those people to reach others, that’s multiplication.
  • Church growth is not enough. We want community transformation.
  • We want nothing less than revival.
When I talk about 100% Engagement that Multiplies
I’m talking about where:
  • 100% are reading the Word
  • 100% are praying
  • 100% are giving – tithing is adding, kingdom Builders is Multiplying…if 100% of our families tithed…there’d be no need….
  • 100% are seeing miracles…
A Pastor in the underground church in Iran was recently asked…how are you growing so quickly…
The Iranian underground church is the fastest growing church in the world…This Pastor said, our advertisement campaign is Miracles…when people are healed of cancer you don’t have to market…
I’m not against marketing but I want Miracles to be Multiplied in our lives…in our services…in our churches….

Look at your neighbor and tell them Multiply…

Can I tell you the enemy is so afraid of You Multiplying…he is so afraid of 100% Engagement…let me prove it real quick….

Ex 1:8-10, 8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9 And he said to his people, “Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; 10 come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, NKJV

• The enemy has been dealing shrewdly with your soul
• Shrewdly – means to outsmart them…to be wiser than they are.
• Your enemy has been trying to outsmart you…so you don’t Multiply…
• He outsmarts us with
o Temptation
o Apathy
o Lukewarmness
o Offense
o Unforgiveness
o Feelings of Fear and Intimidation
o You can fill in the blank…

This Pharaoh King here in Exodus made them produce without the proper tools, resources, and equipment…

• The devil is a lie…
• Your enemy is so nervous about you multiplying…
• About you being 100% Engaged…
• The challenge you are facing right now may be an indicator that you are about to Multiply…
• Can you be Miserable and Multiplying…
o Paul told Timothy “Endure hardness as a good soldierof Jesus Christ”
o  Moses is born during this time of biblical history…where this evil King put a notice out to the Midwives to kill all the males that were born…
II. Moses
a. The book of Hebrews says Moses was born a Proper Child, Meaning he was beautiful. He had parents who would preserve him and oversee him…
  • Parents of Faith…
  • Parents of Obedience to the Voice of God
b. Acts 7 tells us Moses was trained in the Wisdom of the Egyptians…the Leading Empire of the Day with the Leading Educational Institutions. So, Moses attended the Harvard of the Day or the Oxford of the Day. Moses is Haunted by Contradictions. He’s been raised as a Egyptian but he is Hebrew…and Knows it…in other words Moses knows He was created for more…
It’s scary when you’ve been brought up one way and you know you were created for more…
  • Like Moses you can’t deny your past, but I now must identify with my future!
  • Moses has some Key People in His Life
  • His Wife Zipporah
  • His brother Aaron…who becomes the first priest the Nation of Israel
  • Miriam who is Moses’ intercessor for 13 years
  • Joshua who is Moses’ protege but also the captain of the army
  • Hur who is Moses’ brother-in-law married to Miriam
  • He has an amazing Father-in-Law who gives him advice and the result of the advice is the scripture we read here in the book of Numbers

Moses is doing all the ministry work by himself and the Moses’ father-in-law tells Moses…you need to get leaders…captains of 1000’s, 100’s, 50’s and 10’s.
Recognizing Leaders and Leadership has a Capacity

This brings us to our current text in Numbers…Moses is tired and worn out…

III. Moses’ Perspective
a. Moses is a phenomenal Leader who Needs to go to another Level…Multiplying…
b. Multiplication requires Managing Tension
i. It is managing the tension of where you are, where you have been and where you are going…
c. Moses is a Leader in Need of Multiplication, but he doesn’t recognize that…because he only sees hisstruggles…
d. Your struggle is an indication you are the verge ofMultiplication…
IV. Moses’ Aloneness
a. Moses in our text sees Himself alone…verse 14…”Ican’t carry this group alone…”
b. But I just listed all these people…
i. You need people around you that can Multiply some things in your life…we all need Community
ii. Mercy is Multiplied in community
iii. Peace is Multiplied in community
iv. Love is multiplied in community
v. A Community who is 100% in and will pray for you and encourage you…but also will challenge you…
c. Moses had great people around him…but he wasn’t allowing them to carry the load…
V. Moses’ Wretchedness
a. Moses is at a crossroad…
i. He is standing at the threshold of Multiplication…
ii. He is at the place of 100% Engagement…
iii. But all he can see is his wretchedness
b. Wretchedness
i. Meaning incompetence or personal competence has been exhausted
ii. Moses would rather die than be exposed as incompetent
iii. He is afraid to be exposed as one who doesn’t have the answer
iv. Moses would rather die a folk hero than his incompetence be exposed…

But Moses is about to become a Multiplier…

VI. God gives Moses a strategy and 70 people catch the passion, the vision, they actually catch more than that…they catch the Spirit that is upon Moses, and it rests upon them…
You and I may not be Moses, but I need you to recognize God has too much invested in you to allow you to collapse under the burden you are carrying…
But God is asking…are you ready to Multiply!  What is your strategy?? Are you ready to Engage?
  • Engage the Word
  • Engage in Prayer
  • Engage in Community
  • Engage in Generosity
  • Engage in Miracles
We serve a Multiplying God…
He wants to Multiply himself in you and through you…
  • His Mercy
  • His Peace
  • His Love
But it all begins with a Relationship with Jesus…
