Sew 2025: Multiply

Jude 1-2, 1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: 2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. ESV

SEW 2025…this is going to be a powerful few days and I wanted to set the tone today…

Review:  Over the past two Sunday’s I have talked about Multiplication

  • To move to X – Multiply you have to go through the + Cross
  • We must Stir up our gifts
  • God is looking for 100% Engagement
  • I tried to convey God has too much invested in you to let you stay the same…that’s why some have been feeling a wrestling, a Holy discontentment…because it is time to Multiply…

Today, I want to teach a little and then wrap it up with a little preaching…

Story:  John Bevere wrote a book entitled X – “Multiply Your God-Given Potential”

In the book he tells this story about a friend and supporter of his ministry and the story goes something like this…

“Stan, this friend, asked John, I’ve been struggling with something…I’ve worked many many hours over the past several decades to build my businesses and my net worth is approximately at $9 million, why should I spend the next 10 years working to get my business up to $35 million when my wife is set for life, my kids and my grand-kids for that matter…”  John paused and thought before answering and then he replied, “Stan, I completely understand…’I’ve traveled all over the world for the past 30 years, I ‘ve flown over 3 million miles, I’ve stayed 250 nights a year in a hotel room, eaten the most unthinkable foods, I’ve written and sold millions of books, my wife is set for life, my kids and even my grand-kids…” 

Stan, looked at John and said, “I wouldn’t want to be you on Judgement Day…” and John replied, Precisely, I wouldn’t want to be your either…

We are all going to give an account for what we have done to advance or multiply God’s kingdom while we were alive…

To Step into Multiplication, we need to fully engage the Grace of God, our Gifts as well as Understand Faithfulness.

  1. Grace

Rom 12:6, 6 Having then gifts differing according to the GRACE that is given to us, let us use them…

  • MercyGate Church has Gifts according to Grace that have been given to us…
  • You have Gifts according to Grace that have been given to you…
  • Grace – (Charis) –
    • When you hear the word Grace what comes to mind?
      • Salvation
      • Forgiveness
      • Unmerited Favor
    • All that is true…but Grace is More than that…Grace is God’s Supernatural Empowerment to Live and Do…
      • 2 Cor 12:9 “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. (Human Inability)
  • God defines his grace as his power working in us as believers…
  • 2 Peter 1:2-3, 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you …. as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness…(NKJV)
  • Grace is God’s Ability to go Beyond Our Natural Ability…that why as Leaders Who Love Jesus…You Will Live Over Your Head because he said…”I will not share my Glory With anyone!”

Rom 12:6, 6 Having then GIFTS differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them…

  • So, I have established we as MercyGate have a Grace others do not have…we also have Gifts…
  • You have Gifts…
  • Gifts (Charis ‘Grace’ ma) Charisma – a specific gift of Grace that Empowers an individual to fulfill what hey have been Created to Do…
    • Each of you have been given a supernatural Gift by God…to Advance His Kingdom in the Earth and because you are connected to the Grace that is on MercyGate Church…Your Gift is assigned also to Advance the Why, the Vision and Mission of MGC!!!

1 Peter 4:10-11, 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. NKJV

  • It means there are so many gifts distributed they cannot be numbered…
  • We have to be Stewards of the Charism, gifts
    • Happy is the person who knows his or her gift and operates in them…mirserable is the person who tries to operate in someone else’s gift.
    • We frustrate ourselves and others when we try to operate in gifts that aren’t ours.
  • Let me help you
    • Sharing faith with others is not a gift, it is a responsibility
    • Prayer is not a gift
    • Reading the word is not a gift
    • Tithing is not the gift of generosity or the gift of giving…tithing is a responsibility
    • Serving at your local church isn’t a gift, it is an opportunity for connection and growth…it actually may reveal your gift
  • The Apostle Peter is saying…”Don’t sit on it”…Don’t sit on your Gift!
    • Often times we think…If I’m a nice person and a Righteous Christian my Gifts will naturally be activated and work…THAT IS FALSE
    • According to the Apostle Paul…He told the church of Philippi that no one was more Righteous and Faithful than Timothy…
    • But Paul had to write Timothy two letters telling Him…ACTIVATE YOUR GIFTS…SON!
    • Godliness doesn’t activate Gifts…Intentionality and Faith is what Engages Gifts!

Rom 12:6, 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them…

  • We have been Given a Grace…We have each been given Gifts…Now let us Use Them…
  1. Faithfulness

Let me insert another word…Faithful…

  • 1 Cor 4:1-3, 4 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. NKJV
  • What does Faithful or Faithfulness mean…?
  • Parable of the Talents – Matthew 25, Jesus shares a parable of a Master who distributed to 3 of his servants, the Master’s Talents…
    • One received 5, another one received 2, another received 1…
    • When accounting day came, or judgment day came…
      • The man with 5 Talents was faithful…He was a faithful steward of what had been entrusted to him…
      • The man with 2 Talents was faithful…He was a faithful steward of what had been entrusted to him…
      • The man with 1 talent according to most people’s definition was Faithful…was a good steward…
        • I mean he showed up…
        • He brought His talent when he showed up…
      • But Jesus called this servant lazy and wicked…
        • Lazy because all he did was show up and thought that was enough…
        • Wicked because Jesus isn’t due simply what we bring back to him that he gave us…he is due the increase….
      • But I saw something else…Jesus in the parable redefines Faithfulness to more than showing up…more than consistency.
        • HE defines it now as Multiplication
        • 5 multiplied it and brought 5 more
        • 2 multiplied it
        • 1 didn’t multiply what he was Gifted with….

Matt 25:26, 29 ‘For to everyone who has (Multiplies), more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have (maintains), even what he has will be taken away. NKJV

So How do you Multiply…You do so by Stewarding

  • The Grace of God on Your Life
  • The Gifts of God you have been entrusted with
  • Getting involved with the Vision and Mission of MercyGate Church!
  • Multiplication is Part of God’s Design
    1. You were designed to Multiply
      1. Genesis 1:22 says creation was designed to Multiply…
      2. All through the scriptures we see God’s people are designed to Multiply…
  • This church was designed to Multiply…
  1. What if God’s best for you this year was to move your from
    1. Addition 4 + 6 = 10
    2. Multiplication 4 X 6 = 24
  • Exponential Multiplication which is 4 raised to the Power of 6 is 4x4x4x4x4x4 = 4096
  1. Multiplication Begins on the Inside Out….

Let me show you an Old Testament Picture of this…as I get ready to close.

2 Kings 4:1-7, 4 Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.” 2 And Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?” And she said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” 3 Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. 4 Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside.” 5 So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the vessels to her. 6 When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another.” Then the oil stopped flowing. 7 She came and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.” ESV

  1. Let me show you how Multiplication works…
    1. “What do you have in the House”
      1. You have to be willing to do an inventory…
      2. What is the Grace of God, the Gift of God and what are you being Faithful with….
      3. See Grace, Gifts and Faithfulness begins on the Inside…
      4. Inside your heart, your life, your house…
    2. Her reply was “I don’t have anything except”
      1. The exception in your life is where God wants to reveal His Grace and Giftedness in your life.
      2. KJV uses the word “Save”…what you are holding on too…
      3. What you are saving…
      4. You only save what you have deemed is best or scariest…
  • Go borrow vessels…I’ll get back to that in a second…
  1. “Go into your house and shut the door behind you with just you and your sons…(Ministry)…
  2. Start to Pour in the oil…. Multiplication happens in private…before it is revealed publicly….
  3. Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live off the rest…
  • Multiplication let’s you get out of trouble and is more than enough to live on…
    1. Live on…your gift will make room for you and put you before great men…
    2. Live on the Grace of God that is made sufficient for every challenge you endure or go through….
  1. The Miracle of Multiplication is never found on what is on the outside, but it comes from using the little bit of Oil you have on the Inside…
  1. Closing
    1. God Loves Multiplication – I want you as an individual to be convinced of that and as a Church Family we have to be convinced of the fact God wants us to Multiply
      1. He wants your Joy to Multiply
      2. Your peace to Multiply
  • Your Mercy to be multiplied
  1. Love to be Multiplied
  2. Grace to be Multiplied
  3. You Faith to Multiply
  4. It is the will of God for your business to Multiply
  5. Your finances to Multiply
  6. It is the will of God for everything you are involved in, or touch would Multiply

But it must begin in You and Me first
