The Relationship Equation #3-You Need Friends

Jonna Gibson   -

Here are the prayer points to Pastor Don’s sermon.  Pastor reminded us that we were never meant to do life alone and that friendship is the cure for loneliness.  We encourage you to be courageous and step out and allow people into your life.

Prayer Points – The Relationship Equation – You Need Friends

We Need Friends – (Jude 1:1-2, Gen. 2:18, John 15:13-14, John 13:35, Prov. 18:1 & 24 NKJV, Luke 11:5-10, Prov. 27:9, Prov. 11:14, Rom. 12:15-16, Prov. 17:17, Prov. 13:20, Prov. 27:17, James 5:13-16, Prov. 27:5-6, Rom. 16:1-16)

  • Father, thank you for reminding us that we were never meant to do life alone and that mercy, peace, and love are multiplied through relationships.
  • Forgive us for isolating ourselves from the very thing that is the cure for our loneliness (friendships).
  • Give us the courage to step out of our comfort zones and be friendly, because we need friends ourselves.
  • Holy Spirit, as we open ourselves up to friendships in this year of MULTIPLY, would You send us the ones who will help grow and develop us into who God has called us to be.
  • Would You also teach us how to be a friend that adds value to others and loves well, because we want to be able to demonstrate what healthy friendships look like to the world around us.
  • Father, would You send us friends that are going in the same direction as we are that we can talk things through with, ones who are wise and can help us make decisions along the way as we move forward in this year of multiply.
  • Would You help us become a friend that genuinely and authentically can weep when our friends are weeping and can celebrate with them when they have something to celebrate.
  • Father, thank you for the friends that You have sent into our lives to sharpen and shape us. The ones who are allowed to be completely honest and transparent with us.  We don’t want to be dull on either side.
  • Take a moment and ask yourself, “Do I have someone in my life who can call me out before I do a piece of stupid?” If you do not ask Holy Spirit to show you who you can give that trusting invitation too.
  • Today, we choose to say “YES” to collaboration, to friends who are great where we are weak, to friends who can extract the greatness that has been placed within us so that the purposes and plans of God can be accomplished here on the earth.
  • May we always remember that all friendships are not the same, and that healing is found in healthy friendships that are reciprocal.
